PYRAMID TEABAGS – 100% Commercially Compostable

Our teabags are made from a trademarked material called NeoSoilon® which is a PLA (polylactic acid) mesh filter produced from 100% non-GMO sugarcane.

The teabags are sealed using ultrasonic vibrations. There is hence no glue or plastic involved.

The string attached to the teabag is made of non-GMO cotton and the tag at the end of the string is made of paper.

The teabags are hence 100% commercially compostable.

Teabags made from Soilon are see-through and allow for maximum extraction of flavour of the tea inside when infused. The pyramid shape ensures there is enough room for the leaves as they expand when brewed.

How to dispose: Used teabags can be placed with garden waste or food waste, which is taken away for composting. We do however recommend checking with your local Council if they accept compostable bags in this way.

TEA ENVELOPES –100% Compostable and Recyclable

The material that we use for our individually wrapped envelopes is made from PLA and Lacquer both of which are derived from plant extracts.

They are sealed by applying heat and so there is no glue or plastic involved.

Both PLA and lacquer are fully compostable and individually recyclable.

This material provides a high barrier that helps retain the freshness and goodness of the tea within for a long time.

How to dispose: Used Envelopes can be placed with garden waste or food waste, which is taken away for composting. We do however recommend checking with your local Council if they accept compostable bags in this way.

INNER BAGS FOR PACKS OF 15 TEA PYRAMIDS– 100% Home Compostable

The inner bags we use to pack the 15 teabags in our teabag retail packs before putting them into the card boxes are made of a trademarked material called Natureflex which is made of wood pulp from managed plantations. It is compostable in both industrial and home composting environment.

The bags are sealed by applying heat and provide excellent barrier to keep the tea inside fresh.

How to dispose: Natureflex bags can be put in home compost bin or placed with garden or food waste. Checking with local council is recommended.

OUTER BOX FOR PACKS OF 15 TEA PYRAMIDS AND 20 TEA ENVELOPES– Recyclable and Compostable

The outer box we use to pack the 15 teabags in our teabag retail packs and the 20 individually wrapped tea envelopes are made from FSC certified card paper. They are recyclable and compostable in both industrial and home composting environment.

The card box helps maintain the freshness of the teabags inside by keeping them away from direct light which can otherwise reduce the shelf life of tea.

How to dispose: Card boxes can be placed in the regular Recycling bins as they are very commonly recycled at most local recycling centres.

TIN CADDIES – Reusable and Recyclable

Our metal canisters are made of tinplate and are 100% food safe.

They are 100% reusable: We suggest topping up the tin containers with refill packs of the same tea, but in case you want to change to a different tea, then give it good clean or wash with water but make sure it’s dry before you decant your favourite tea into it. You can use the tins for other dry food as well, such as coffee, hot chocolate, sugar, etc.

Our tins come with an outer lid and an inner lid with a knob to pull it out. This makes the tins air tight and helps keep the tea fresh for a much longer time.

How to dispose: Tins that are no longer needed can be placed in the Recycling bin.

RE-SEALABLE STAND-UP POUCHES AND CATERING BAGS - Biodegradable

banner

Our stand-up pouches and bags are made of a multi-layered material that includes Paper, Natureflex NKME and BioPBS.

Paper : The outermost layer is made of paper which is obtained from renewable sources.

Natureflex NKME is a high barrier metallised film made of cellulose (wood pulp from managed plantations) and a thin layer of aluminium. This forms the middle layer and is fully compostable.

BioPBS:The innermost layer is made ofPBS or Polybutylene succinate which is a biodegradable plastic derived from natural resources, such as sugarcane cassava and corn. It decomposes into biomass, water and carbon dioxide.

These bags are heat sealed and provide excellent barrier to retain the aroma and freshness of the tea for a very long time.

How to dispose: Bags made of Paper+NKME+PBS can be placed with garden or food waste as they are commercially compostable, but we suggest checking with local council. While we do not have certification for home composting of the combined material, the three materials are individually certified for home composting and so you can place them in your compost bin if you like as we have had positive feedback.

OUTER PACKAGING – Recyclable and Recyled

While we maintain a stock of new boxes and other recyclable packaging material, we always strive to reuse all boxes or packaging that we receive from our suppliers if they are in a good enough condition.

This is the reason why sometimes you may find that your parcel has been packed in a box which is not completely new or we have used a packing filler that is a bit different from our standard one, or even a plastic one because it's better to reuse it than to throw it away and add to the landfill

How to dispose: Cardboard boxes can be placed in the regular Recycling bin as they are very commonly recycled at most recycling centres.
